Whatever you do, do with all your might
I didn’t hold back or give you a lot of fluff to read first – I just gave it to you straight. The secret to getting work done.
Do you need to write a blog post or newsletter? Put everything you’ve got into it. And that doesn’t mean taking forever to finish it or being such a perfectionist that you never publish it at all. It means set a deadline, give it your freshest self and your full attention.
Don’t do anything by halves.
Maybe it’s time to do some cold calling/emailing to bring on new clients. Don’t sit staring at the computer screen biting your lip, and don’t give in to the ‘sudden’ urge to go to the bathroom eleven extra times. Make a small list and tackle it with real intention.
If you decide to reach out to 3 new potential clients a day then make sure you hit all three. Write your best email, do your best research in the time you’ve allotted, and go get em!
You can learn to do anything
I once spent 30 minutes trying to setup my 3 month old’s Pack ‘n’ Play for the first time. Could get the sides to lock properly though I tried, used more muscle, and finally shook with defeat and irritation. I finally did what I should’ve after the first 3 minutes.
A YouTube search landed me on a simple step-by-step video and in another moment, the Pack ‘n’ Play was up. I needn’t have wasted half an hour getting more and more frustrated when I could’ve simply been willing to learn.
Don’t go over the time you’ve set aside
If you blocked off 2 hours to write emails and a blog post that morning, don’t do two and a half hours. Stop while you’re still on a role and you’ll find yourself far more eager to get back at it the next day. It’s a fantastic jumpstart to begin your day finishing up something that was already going well, and somehow it helps you flow right into the next item on your to-do list.
In closing, the secret to getting great work done is hidden in YOU. If you are willing to learn, do everything on your list with all your might, and stay within the limits you’ve set for yourself you’re on a solid track to success.
